Default 06 Blower motor not functioning

So I have been reading through posts trying to discover a fix, but I have not been able to as of yet. My 06 equinox has power to the blower motor at the red/white wire, and if I ground the purple wire at the motor it spins at full blast, but it will not run otherwise regardless of the position the switch is in.
As I understand it the switch varies the ground to control the speed, but I am just not sure where to go from here. I am more used to a constant ground and varied power type circuits, so this is throwing me for a loop. Any suggestions on where to look for the culprit, resistor, etc would be greatly appreciated!

So it turns out the resistor plug was melted to the resistor itself... is there any way to test the resistor and any place besides a salvage yard to get the plug?

You can test the resistor with a multimeter/ohmmeter. Just measure the resistance across each circuit. As long as none of the circuits are open the resistor should be fine.

As far as a replacement plug goes, an exact match is Dorman part number 645-720. Dorman doesn't say it fits the 2006 Equinox/Torrent, but the other vehicles Dorman says it fits (2006-2010 Hummer H3, 2007-2010 Saturn Sky, 2007-2009 Pontiac Solstice) use the same resistor as the 2006 Equinox/Torrent so it should be a perfect fit.

2005 Equinox uses a different resistor (same as 2002-2007 Saturn Vue)
2007-2009 Equinox/Torrent also use a different resistor (same as numerous 2007+ GM models)

An OEM harness that would have this plug is p/n 25949869, but it will cost around $48 from the stealership. This might be your only choice at the moment because it seems like most retailers are out of the Dorman part.
