Default Oil Pump Replacement Help

I'm a mechanic on the side, and i have a customer that needs a new oil pump on their 2005 Equinox, AWD. when i looked underneath, i couldnt quite tell if i can do it without removing the motor. is there an easy way to do it? has anyone done it yet? i looked on ALLDATA to see what they said, but they start their instructions at "remove the oil pan", which cant really be done. thanks guys.

According to the attached instructions, the oil pan can be replaced without pulling the engine. I don't think it will be easy though due to the tight workspace.

Are you sure the oil pump is bad? I ask because they are simple parts that usually last the life of the engine and never need to be replaced.

The customer took the car into a shop, and that's what they diagnosed, but wanted 2G to do it, so I was going to help them for a lot less. Thank you for your input.
