2012 New to me..What to do?? Help, suggest etc
Just came home with a 2012, 2500, Passenger, Chevy Express 2500 with the 4.8L Engine. The oil Press light dumps but nothing seems to be wrong so figure it is just a sensor issue? Engine was not missing a beat nor smelling bad or anything when the gauge dropped down and chimed at me. Oil still full, don't see any issues thank gosh. Wondering the age old questions of what would be best at 55k miles oil wise, Valvoline restore Full Synth or the high Millage Blend? What to do?? Any suggestions? Any tips? This will be the first thing I attend to after Hitting the Zerk Points with Red Tacky Lube and maybe putting silicon on the rubber boots etc.
Thanks all,
Much appreciated..

I am in a condo and have limited area to work on things. How can I verify that it is the sensor. I mean it was and is driving fine. the engine never missed a beat, ran smooth as could be well after the gauge dropped.
Well she is running very normal from cold start to warming idle. The gauge fell to zero on the way home from the lot I bought her from. Now no reading at all but the engine starts and seems quite happy purring along. So I am thinking I will remove the Dog House and try my hand at putting in a new Sensor. If that does not do itI guess it is off to a Mechanic to drop the pan etc. Thanks for the video, it got me thinking and I see how easy it is to do from inside as far as a new sensor. As far as the oil goes I am not sure if I should do a flush or just put in a good filter with some High Millage oil and see what it yields as far as dirt etc. Have some Lucas Oil additive for the fuel side.. How is this sounding??
Before just swapping the sensor I'd like to know if it is in fact bad. Go with a factory sensor if you want to put in a new one. The doghouse is easy to take off but does take some time for all the trim you have to take off to get to it.
Would be a good idea to buy a vehicle code reader? Will that tell me anything and maybe save me. MY thinking with starting at the sensor is, IF it is the sensor, I saved myself a large bill for a $25 part as it IS time consuming, but easy for me to do, like you said. If it doesn't change and I am still at "0" on the gauge I can take Her to a proper mechanic to have the O ring checked etc. Thoughts? Also are OEM parts avail on the internet other than a dealer? Perhaps, Summit or Amazon? Really appreciate your input. TY

That might be enough for me to check if it's the issue first but you do make a good point that other options would be much more expensive so it might be worth the gamble.
Yes you should get a scan tool.... Search here for ELM and the Torque App. It will get you a lot for cheap and let you know if the computer sees the same pressure that the dash is displaying.

He said the same thing about replacing the sensor before any other work, just to be sure. Did not even try to sell me one, great guys. Ok Rock Auto sounds great and thanks as I forgot about them. Def want to be sure to cover all bases to be sure
