Default Axle shaft

2014 express 1500, the right rear axle bearing exploded. It wore a decent groove in the axle shaft, but I’m stuck since gm discontinued that shaft for the non- limited slip differential. Has anyone ever done a conversion to the limited slip? Right now it looks like I’m stuck buying the whole assembly from a salvage yard, and if I’m spending $1200 anyway I wondered if just getting the one they still make parts for might be an easier option going forward. Thanks for help/opinions you can offer!

How about calling up one of the Hot rod or off-road shops that make custom axles and have them make just one for you? It has to be a lot cheaper than $1,200.

This is a pair for under $500

not sure, aside from different part numbers, limited slip vs not (mine) 1500 v6 with no limited slip differential are discontinued

Just contacted them, they don’t show what I need but it’s a possibility I didn’t have before, thank you!

spline count, diameter, probably even stud count since the 1500 v6 is only 6 not 8 before 2016

Have you counted the number of bolts holding the cover on the differential? You likely have a 10 bolt. Did the G80 get you a 9.5" 14 bolt?

I know it’s a 10 bolt cover, just put is back together with new bearing and seal as a bandaid until I find a better solution. It’s my work van, need everything in it. I have a complete differential used ready to ship fo 1200, just looking for a cheaper solution.

I have a 2013 1500 V8 with limited slip and I have a 8.625" 10 bolt rear with 6 lugs and 30 splines
