You can't just buy a used axle shaft somewhere?

What's the interchange on them, how many years? You might be able to get one in a you pull yard.

That seems to be the issue, since it’s a discontinued part very few people have any. The ones that do, won’t sell a shaft, only the whole assembly.

Hmm. There must be some other difference, dealerships are telling me the axle for a limited slip will not work, and I’m sure they’d love to sell me a $350 axle.

The closest you pull to me right now has a dozen 2000-2012 vans including two 2012s sitting out there. You can pull any parts you want off them.

Right now it looks like I’m stuck buying the whole assembly from a salvage yard, and if I’m spending $1200 anyway I wondered if just getting the one they still make parts for might be an easier option going forward. Thanks for help/opinions you can offer!
Just to update for anyone that ever runs into this issue, I finally found a company called US powertrain, they manufacture very hard to find often discontinued drive components. $115 shipped from Iowa to Florida.

That's a good contact to have. Thanks for the follow-up.
