Default Gauges for tranny and rpm 2019 Express

Post pics of your aftermarket gauges and quickly describe how you wired them.
I am trying to figure out how to gauge rpms and trans temp. I was looking into the Banks Idash but they haven't programed it to read the trans temp for chevys although it would display rpms; I talked to a rep over the phone. I was hoping for a somewhat plug and play solution for both gauges but it looks like I will have to cut into the trans line and rig up a stand alone tach. what have yall done and should i gauge anything else? -woodhooks aka -roadkill
i am towing 5500 lbs and it seems to never shift into 6th and runs between 2000 and 2300 rpms in fifth cruising on a flat surface. Van has 3.42's

Look into the Torque App and an OBD2 connector. You could do it for $25 plus an old phone.

I tried it and the temperature worked on my 2015 but I don't have it setup as a dedicated gauge.

the only "Problem" is, that you have to disconnect the Adapter every Time, your VAN stays over Night. Because the OBD2-Connector has Power, also when the VAN is closed and the Ignition Key is removed. Sucks the Battery if it not removed...

I don't remember and will have to check on the van but I have a Malibu that doesn't power the OBD2 adapter when off. 🤔

Well it has the power light on but isn't communicating. I'd have to test how much extra draw there is but it shouldn't be much.

On the other hand I couldn't get the trans temp to work. I swear it worked on my old phone before Android 10.

I bought an elm 327 v.1.5 and used torquelite app which gave a few useful figures with rpm being the most/only useful gauge. I bought the torque pro app for $5 and I have the trans temp and engine oil temp gauges easily working which are the two most useful, however there is a whole slew of extra info that I’ll definitely be using. I did not have to input any special info to get those gauges running. I’ll say that I wish I had gotten a Bluetooth adapter since I cannot use internet with my WiFi adapter.

Not bad for only $30. I do wish I had a genuine elm327 adapter and not a Chinese clone, sadly I didn’t know anything about the clones before I bought one, but hey, it gave me what I wanted. I see what you are saying about leaving it plugged in as mine stays active even with the van off.
