Default Park Assist Off

Hi, new here. After looking for years at vans, the perfect listing just popped up in my area and I grabbed it: my dream vehicle, a 2016 Express 3500. Standard wheelbase, 6.0L V8. What makes it my dream vehicle is that It's a commuter van conversion that was previously owned by state governments - probably used for vanpool, so it has nine captains chairs in the back. Perfect way to tow an RV with my big family in comfort and safety. I think the conversion was done with a CVC kit. Or at least the seats look a lot like what CVC sells. Anyway it's a great van, great condition, etc. I'm really hyped about it - except for this one nagging thing:

The "Park Assist Off" warning keeps showing up on the display. There are also no door chime sounds, nor do the turn signals make the usual "tick" sound. It has an aftermarket Kenwood stereo. I gather from searching on here that this is probably all related, since these systems all evidently route their audio through the stereo system.

Some on here recommended unplugging the battery for a few minutes to see if that resets things. It did not.

Somebody in another thread (for another vehicle type) mentioned needing a PAC harnesses for all this stuff to work with an aftermarket radio. Is there some way to tell if there's one installed or not, short of ripping apart the dash and looking behind the radio? I'm figuring that it probably doesn't have one, since these features are not working - and I would need to get one. I went to pac-audio.com and there are a bunch to choose from. Some are quite expensive. How would I know which one I need? Any other pointers or troubleshooting tips?

Thanks!

Check out Crutchfield.com for what you need. Last year I got a touchscreen unit from them so I could hook up rear cameras in my 2011. I had to buy a small box that plugged in with the unit to keep the chime and turn signal sounds. It wasn't that expensive.

Crutchfiels is very good for sharing information on what you need and helping with anything you need. They even have detailed install information (including dash and trim removal) that they put together for practically every vehicle out there. They're very helpful on the phone.

There's not much to pulling the panel on these vans.
