Default 1995 silverado won't start

Hi I have a 1995 Chevy Silverado 1500 mark III step-side, 2WD with a 305 engine and 5 speed tranny in it. Yesterday I was pulling out of a parking lot when all of the sudden it just died on me so I tried starting it and the engine would turn over but wouldn't start so I thought the fuel pump might of went out so I turned the key to the on position to see if I could hear the pump but I didn't hear it turn on or anything but then I noticed that whenever I turned the key on none of the gauges moved or the seat belt, abs and brake lights turned on so I checked all the fuses and relays and made sure the grounds didn't come off but everything was ok. And whenever I hauled it home I tested the fuel pump leads to see if they had current but it read 0v. And I checked all the wiring to make sure no rodents chewed on it but it all looked good. What could be the cause of this?

If your guages are not coming on it sounds electrical. I woild check your battery, make sure your battery cables are tight, then check the power wire going from the starter to your ignition switch.

The engine turns over so it can't be the battery and I checked all the cables and they're all tight.

Pull a plug, ground it and see if you are getting a spark.

Check your PCM harness. It may have become disconnected. Instrument cluster is powered through the PCM as well as the fuel pump. As well as spark. I dont think you are going to have spark either.

I asked a friend about it and he said that he's sure it's the ignition switch. He said it's common for the ignition switch to fail because he's fixed a whole lot of chevy trucks and most of them had that problem. I ordered one and whenever it gets here I'll update on here and see if it solved the problem. Thanks everyone for the help, I really appreciate it

Hi, I am having the same problem, if i let my truck sit for a few hours it will start right up is the only difference from your problem. when it does start, in about 10 minutes it will die again if not right away. I just replaced my ignition switch and it still died in about 1o minutes.
