Default 327 question

I've obtained a 327 from a mechanic I consider a master. I was told it was a 5.7l 327ci. It's an old school motor and still bright chevy orange. Now many people have told me that 5.7 isn't possible in a 327, but like I said this guy knows more than the average mechanic. Whats the deal?

I was also told something about it having new rods. Is it possible it had 5.7 rods in it?

Rod length change only will only change the height at which the piston sits in the bore. To change displacement the crank would also need to be changed to one of a longer stroke.
Different size stroke engines can have the same rod length, but they need different height pistons ( centre of pin to top of piston) to work. eg 396,427 and 454 have same length rods but 454 has different height pistons to work with 1/4" longer stroke.
Hope I explained ok
