I just installed a new aftermarket stereo, along with a mono amp connected to a subwoofer. Everything powers on and works fine but there is no sound coming from the rear speakers, only the front. It doesn’t sound to bad the way it is, but I’d like to have all the speakers working. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? The wiring harness connections I made and solid. I’ve been looking online and maybe it has to do with the rear speaker power wire being connected to the power antenna or something, I don’t know. Please help!

I presume the rear speakers worked before you replaced the stereo?

do you have a spare known-good speaker you can test with?

 

Yes the speakers worked before I installed the new stereo. I don’t have any spare speakers either..

 

Double check the wiring.

connect it directly to the head unit. Just touch the terminals on the back corresponding to the rear channels.

 

How would I go about testing this speaker using a basic multimeter or 9v battery?

 

the meter will tell you if the speaker is ok electrically, but not if it's able to produce sound. The best way to test it is to hook it up to an audio source.

Like I said, just play some music on your car stereo and touch the speaker wires to the stereo output pins. Or bring the speaker inside and try it on a home unit (just make sure it can handle 4 ohms).
