This is on a restored bone stock '67 Caprice, your grandfathers car. I've traced the circuit from the idiot light to the junction block at the battery. I even took the dash out to repair the printed circuit board the lamp clips into. I have replace the altenator 3 times and the voltage regulator 3 times, I've had all the harness' apart and everything is perfect. I was getting Federated AutoParts alternators and just now replaced it with a PowerMaster. I have the Standard Ignition VR-171 regulater (I tried a VR 103 too) and the proper alternator, the connectors to the alternator are new, the alt is grounded to the VR case.
At idle it puts out 12.5volts, when I put it into gear the 'Gen' light comes ON.
If I raise the rpm the voltage doesn't change.
What am I missing?
