Default Hit a big chunk of iron on the road

Hello Guys,
I have an accident today in my 2019 Chevy Malibu when I hit a big piece of iron or a solid motor part that was on the road at 55 mph and it open a hole in my transmission cover loosing all the transmission oil. I stopped almost half mile after and called a tow company. My question is: will be this an expensive repair? See below a picture of the damaged part.
Thanks for your opinions.

I'm sure your insurance adjuster will let you know exactly how much it will be, but you need a new transmission. That's several thousands of dollars.
