Default How do I find my FCC ID for my keyless remotes

We just bought a 06 cobalt SS and it only came with 1 key thats it. I know we'll get the key cut by GM but we would like 2 keyless remotes. I called some dealerships around here and it's about 180-200 for 2 programed remotes. I can find ones on ebay for 15-40 bucks however since I don't have the original remote I do not have access to the orginial FCCID #. Is there anywhere on the car I can find it or maybe in a database? am I correct that if I get 2 06cobalt remotes with the same ID it won't work unless it matches my cars ID.

Also, if someone has the same car can they give me there FCC ID off of theres will it work?

Hi andrewgalss25,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

I couldn't even find any information pertaining to the OBD II system in my owner's manual. You may want to try asking the dealer if they can release this info, but bring the vehicle, and plenty of ID for it and yourself, because there's been a VIN scam going on recently, and the dealers are now becoming very security minded.

Okay thanks. Yeah prolly looks bad because we bought the car about 2 weeks ago with our 8k back for buying a house and we paid 10900 outright for it and we still don't have the title because he was waiting for our check to clear before he mailed it(it cleared like monday) However I got all the sales records receipts and stuff. We just don't like the fact we have 1 key as if we lose that we're screwed. All the carfax and everything looks great.

Thanks, I had another guy give me the same part number it's on the back of his however if you look at ebay you can get a used one for 15 bucks that works fine but some of those numbers are different I think the 22733523 number may be what I'm shooting for. I'm going to try to order 1 if it doesn't work I"ll go to the dealer and I'm only out 15 bucks.
