I'm Removing EGR! Any Tips? 1981 Chevy 3.8L/229 V6
I have a 1981 Chevy El Camino and it's running like crap. I have done 90% of the tune up and I'm still experiencing a rough idle and when I hit the gas too hard, I get afterfire. Now, I know that my engine may be running either a little rich or a little lean, the timing may also need to be adjusted and all of this will be taken care of. However, I am most certainly going to remove the EGR valve and I was wondering if anyone has ever done an EGR delete on a small block Chevy and how it worked out for them. Do you have pictures? Is there anything that I need aside from a plate to block the place where the EGR valve sits?
I'm not seeking criticism for my decision. This car is emissions except!
Thanks.

When I did my 1985 4 banger Fiero, I just used a plate over the EGR mount but I drilled a hole to allow the EGR to fit back on so everything was stock in appearance, I just didn't drill a hole for the gasses to enter back into the intake...
