Won't cost ya nothin' to look at the distributor.

Make sure the cap isn't cracked or carbon tracked. Make sure the rotor is clean, tight, and dry. Check to be sure the distributor lockdown bolt and clip are tight.

If you get the time, try to be sure the dielectric grease under the Ignition Chip in the distributor hasn't dried out.

no the pin that hits the lever on the clutch to engage it had backed out to where it was about to fall out so we screwed it back in and the clutch has never worked better

I would say maybe neutral/start safety switch but you say it is turning over right? I am sorry I'm just thinking of things that have to do with you fixing your clutch but maybe it is just coincidence. Can you here your fuel pump humming when you first switch your ignition to on? DO you have spark?

Sometimes the power wire to the distributor (Orange or Grey, @10gauge) pops off, just plug it back in. Sometimes it burns off the bottom of the plug, then you have to replace the plug.
