Default Tranmission pressure sensor solenoid

Hello, I have two automobiles, a 2006 Chevy Impala 3.5 and a 2007 Chevy Uplander 3.9. The transmission in both cars (lucky me) will occationaly slip in first gear. This usually happens when the engine is cold. The engine will rev and then it will jerk forwad when the tranny finally engages. I've read where this could be a bad pressure control solenoid and the only way to fix this is to pull the plate on the side of the tranny and replace. Estimates are araound $800-$1000. Is this a common problem throughout GM products? Is there a positive way to know if it's actually the PCS? It's not throwing any codes that I can tell. I've also read where this could be just a dirty or clogged PCS? And maybe just running some tranny cleaner thru might fix? That's probably just whishfull thinking. Anyone else experience this? This is very frustrating to have the same problem develop in both of my GM cars.

Deaner,
Still have the car and van? There is a YouTube video of a guy showing you how to change that solenoid by accessing it from the right front side (half-shaft removed). Search youtube 2006 uplander transmission and you'll find this
. This guy gives a great overview.

Hello,
Does this problem happen in reverse? Does the problem happen all the time or just when hot or cold. Gary
