universal joint replacement
I have a 1994 chevy silverado 4x4. Need suggestions on how to replace the universal joints correctly. Any tips on what to do or not to do. Tools needed etc. Please be specific on removeal and replacement. Thanks for any advice. wvlewis
What I have done is use the ball joint press/ujoint press.
Remove the drive shaft straps and pull it out. I placed the yoke in a vise and sprayed wd40 all over the caps. I removed the c-clips and pressed the ujoint all the way to one side. Remove the cap and press it all the way the other way removing the other cap. Installation is pretty much opposite of removal, but be very careful with the needle bearings inside the caps.
