I always thought so. Just checking to see if I'm missing the boat. There can always be something better out there. Sometimes considerably better.

Hi jrsavoie,

Welcome to the Chevy forums.

I was recently brake shopping, but our opinions and our situations may vary, depending on our circumstances.

First of all, NAPA generally sells good stuff. I got my gear at Pep Boys, but I wouldn't be surprised if some of it even came out of the same factory.

In my situation, I was replacing OEM rear pads and rotors. I went 90,000 miles with the first set. The 4-wheel disc brakes on my truck have always been strong, so I saw no need for a hardware upgrade for better stopping power.(IMO, all vehicles should have 4-wheel-disc-brakes as a safety feature.)
I also felt that slotted or dimpled brakes might not last as long as the original, for possibly a very small improvement in stopping power.
For an extra 10$, I did upgrade to the heat-resistant ceramic pads.

But if you are looking for better stopping power on your next set of brakes, you want to consider upgrading to something hi performance. Auto Anything has a few HP vendors, up to and including Brembo, for world-class-grabbing power.
