So I figured I would put on here what ended up getting my hhr going again after the motor swap from a 2007 cobalt engine went in.
I first hooked my friends hp tuner to the hhr computer and we had to buy credits to unlock it. But at that point I found out that there was something inside this computer that wasn’t going to work it would talk to the car module and it just flat out needed to be replaced. I turned to lkq and I am a distributor for them and I got a 2007 hhr ecm for 45 bucks. Now that I had that computer installed I opened it up and turned off the security and vin id. And the engine started up without a hitch and runs great.
it is very odd that my engine threw a timing chain aka jumped time, and also the computer went down at the same time. But that’s my story and now it’s all sorted. Hope this helps someone. You can totally use an engine from another vehicle just do your homework first.
