Rolling in Park

The wife shifted into park accidentally on the highway. The park mechanism broke. I believe its called the parking pawl...
I have searched far and wide and cannot find information on how to replace this part, or even a proper diagnosis / part number... I'm not going to pay a mechanic $1000 to replaced a $30 part.
Symptoms: Car rolls while in park.
YMM: 2006 Chevy HHR LT 2.2L
Can someone confirm the name of the part is a parking pawl, and tell me how I might go about replacing said part?
For perspective, I have done full engine removals and rebuilds in the past, so I am pretty proficient mechanically. However I have not successfully fixed a transmission issue before.
