Default 2002 Chevy Impala

I have a 02 Chevy Impala and Bought it brand new. Drove it off the lot with 0 miles one it. It has been nothing but problems. First was the cad converter. I hadn't even had it a year. 2 years later I found out there was a recall and got a reimbursement on it, but this car has more problems than what it is worth. The engine started knocking and it eventually quit going. I had a mechinic put a rebulilt one in and it worked fine for a month. I got past the knocking and constantly haveing to put extra oil in it, and went straight to the next problem. THE COOLANT! Now I have to keep adding coolant, and I don't notice any major leaks for the amount of coolant I have to put in. My husband changed the thermostant several times and each time it would fix the problem for a week. My check engine light has been on ever since the cad went out, and now my lights are malfunctioning. The locks don't work properly, it locks and unlocks when it wants to. The reverse lights aren't comeing on anymore and it's not a bulb, but sometimes they come on while the car is in drive. My a/c isn't working anymore, but the heater is. Added freeon and that dosen't help. The car acts up and sometimes dosen't start. I have to wait 30 min before it will. AND the security light comes on everytime I start the car now, along with the battery light and service engine soon. It acts like the car isn't started electronically. Does anyone know of any other recalls I may have not been told about? AND if you have one, get rid of it before it craps out on you.

Sorry to hear of all your problems.

I bought (leased) my '03 Impala LS off the lot and after dealing with the recalls, I have no serious complaints. (except for eating brakes). The only problem I had to really fork out forwas the driver's seat heater. I just bought the car off lease and put it up for sale but we are currently thinking of keeping it (since my daughter wrecked the extra car).

Missy alot of those problems are minor fixes.
The extra oil and coolant is the Intake Gasket. Those always go bad in the 3400.
The CEL, go have the scan done and post what codes you are getting.
The other problems can be fixed very easliy. Like the Service engine soon

LEt me know if you need more help
