Does the 2006 have the battery minder that watches for stuff left on to prevent a discharge condition?

you should unhook the negative,
and put a voltimeter on there and see how much electricity it's pulling.

Also make sure you get your battery reconditioned witha good battery charger that does reconditioning.

Could it just be that the battery is bad and will not hold a charge, I just had this happen with an Exide Battery, took it to where I bought it, they did their tests on it and told me it was bad and would not ever hold a charge. They gave me a new one at no charge because the battery had a 72 Month Warranty with the first 24 Months no prorate.

when I first got my impala it seemed like the battery wouldn't last too long.

I pulled the trunk light because i wasn't 100% sure of it..

but i think the battery sat too long. sometimes it wouldn't start over night.

So i put the reconditioner on it, and it's doing pretty well now.

maybe the car uses more power to start than can be replenished by the short trip? Have a parasitic draw test performed. Evidently a control module somewhere in the cars electrical system is staying powered up (when it shouldn't be). The battery is suffering from parasitic drain. This can be a difficult diagnosis that takes quite a bit of time to complete.

So you have a new/replacement battery and it is still going dead. This sounds like a parasitic drain. I just read an article in a mag about a parasitic drain tester made by multiple manufacturers with the model number TH209. According to the article, by setting the amperage rating of the fuse, then connecting the test leads across the fuse in the fusebox, the current in the circuit (if any) will be displayed. This eliminates the need to open any circuits or removing any fuses to put an ammeter in series with the circuit being tested.

my guess would be it's a bad battery or one of light's under the hood or trunk is staying on
