Default creaking noise

I have a 2002 Impala. Lately i have been getting a loud creaking noise coming from the front end whenever a go over a large bump on the road or turning into a parking lot that is slightly raised. It only happens at low speeds and usually only when the car hasnt been driven overnight. I also find the noise occurs when its wet or damp out.

The front struts and springs have been replaced 3 months ago as were the sway bar links and bushings. The control arm bushings were done 6 months ago and still seem to be in good shape.

What should I be looking for here?

Welcome to the Forum!

I would start looking for anything loose anyware: bolts on body, frame, brackets etc... re torque things basically. I am sure someone else here might have a better explanation of what to look at.

There is a TSB on the subframe creeking. I'm having the same problem on my 04 SS. Check with your local GM dealer.

Could it be an Intermediate Steering Shaft clunking??

Could be that too. Kinda hard to pinpoint the exact noise/clunk with all the crap on the front end that makes noise.

No its not a clunking noise but rather a loud creaking noise.

In the last 4 months i have had alot of front end work done. So far its been new struts and springs, sway bar links and bushings, and control arm bushings. Also i installed a new wheel bearing on the passenger side. I am all out of options as to whats causing the noise. The noise comes out of the drivers side. This happens mostly when its moist or wet outside but not exclusively.

I should also add that there is a little bit of shaking in front end when going highers speeds or accelerating.

ha, i know the exact noise you're talking about. when my car sits over night and i get to the end of my alley and i go down the small decline it gives me a loud creeking noise. but after a few mins of driving it wont do it anymore. i still havent figured what it is yet. one thing you might want to check is the cradle bolts and have them properly tourqued.

as for the shaking in the front end at higher speeds or accelerating, might be one of the drive shafts.(axle)
