Angry Tire Suggestios

2009 Impala LT @27,000 will need new tires soon. Original Goodyear Integra OK but doesn't look like they will go 40,000. Yes I do rotate. Wearing some at both edges but not a problem. Any suggestions on replacements?

Do not buy Goodyears the are the worst tire. 90% of vibration complaints at work are from Goodyear. Look into Kumho or Michelin

I agree that you should avoid Goodyears (and Firestone). My car came with Generals and they were down to the cords when I bought it at 35,000 miles. I replaced them with Uniroyal Tiger Paws based on prior experience. They currently have 33,000 miles on them and it looks like they are good for another 20,000-25,000 miles. I did have to have them rebalanced after about 20,000 miles (the shop said that was not uncommon with this tire but they lasted a long long time.)

You might want to check out tirerack or discount tires web sites and see what they recommend and read some of the reviews to get some prospective of how tires similar in class are holding out...

Thanks for the suggestions. I have viewed tires that fit my Impala on the Discount Tire and Tire Rack web sites and taken notes. Lots of charges added besides the cost for D. T. Install & Bal $64; enviromental fee & disposal $18; IPMS Rebuild $36 but they do include the Road Hazzard in the tire cost. Total for Yokohama @$99=$555.

BFGoodrich ain't bad....and I still think the edge ware is an under-inflation issue on 16+ size tires.

Gwampa that is generally the cause of under inflation. I have added 2 pounds to the OEM 30 pounds. Over that and the ride is hard.

My Unroyal Tiger Paws now have 43,000 miles on them and look like they are good for at least another 20,000. I run 35 lbs. of air in them and they are wearing very evenly. The original tires were worn to the cords on the outer edges with good treat in the center when I bought the car with 35,000 miles on it. Underinflation is a bad thing for tires as well as fuel mileage.

My original tires had 26 to 28 in them and you are right about the edge ware issue....reminded me of a 52 Delux I had that did the same thing (yes we had tires then).
I use the 32 lb rule and get excellent handling and mileage.
