2003 Malibu Ignition
I have a 2003 Malibu that has started to give me trouble when I try to start it. I will describe it as good as I can maybe someone can tell me what to do. Sometimes when I put the key in and turn it nothing happens, no lights on the dash or guages energize. If I try to start it up all it will do is turn over but not fire up. I can turn it on and off a few times until the dash energizes and it will crank right up. I have read all the posts about the theft deterrent but I dont think that is the problem here since the theft light doesnt come on either when the dash is dead. Maybe the ignition switch but I don't want to but one for nothing if there may be something else wrong that someone has experienced before. Thanks for the help in advance.
Sound like a bad ignition switch. Probably a bad internal contact on the ignition circuit.
To test it, you'll have to pull the switch out, and probe the wires while turning the key through its cycle.
There should be 2 red wires, both will test as B+. The White and Pink wires will test as Ignition. Brown and Orange will test as Accessory. It would be best to use a multimeter to test the wires as a test light may light up when there's only 6v
