I have a nice red 07 Malibu. Today, I passed someone turning, and hit the gas. The downshift was not normal. It held first until it tached out, and I had to let up to make it shift. Then, it seemed to slip into 3rd. While taking off from a stop, even if I am light-footed, it tachs out. I have to tweak the pedal to make it shift.

On the highway, if I try to pass someone,it tachs out, and goes nowhere. Is this the throttle position sensor? I pray it is. Anyone else have a problem like this?

 

Well, my car is at the dealers. I have a Cobalt loaner. Second gear is gone in my Malibu. Thank God I have the 100,000 mile warranty, and have 60k on the car....

 

Glad your getting it taken care of. Thats some low miles for the trans to be acting up like that.

 

I agree. All I did was hit the gas to poass a car making a real slowo turn. I didn't floor it, I just hit it. The car tached out to about 5 grand, and slammed into 3rd. Just like that, 2ns was gone. It was a Hertz car, so maybe it was beat on. Dangit. Maybe I shoulda got the Cobalt LS that was on the lot that day.....
