Default all instruments inop

On my 98 malibu all the instrument gages are inop, also was having a problem at the same time with the antitheft keep keeping it from starting but i have disabled the antitheft system but still cant get the gages to work. I have heard the problem might be the ECM? Was hoping to get some more help before i went and bought a used ECM and that didnt fix it. Hope someone has some ideas. its a v-6 engine in it. Also was wondering where the ECM was located on a 98 malibu 3.1 thanks glen

Did the problem start before or after you replaced the battery? Have you check the connection on the back of the cluster?

The chances of the connector coming loose are not likely, but if it was never clipped in properly, it could have just been a matter of time before it fell out.
