passenger window lift motor does not go up only down
04 Malibu Classic passenger window lift motor goes down but not up - tried new motor - swapped window switch from back door - drivers switch for window does not close window either - used test light and wires to motor do show power when switch is in down position or up position - expected up wire connector to not light test light - assuming a bad ground or broken wire. Any ideas.
Thanks,
Milty

Are you seeing power on both sides of the switch in any position, or power when switched either up, or down on the correct side of the switch? will the window go up with an assist from your hand? In other words, with the switch selected to up, will it go up with you grabbing the window to assist it going up?

The test light comes on on one side at a time on the connector at the lift motor when up or down is toggled. Pulling up on the window does not help. I have removed the motor and it runs when down is pressed but does not run when up is pressed.

This coming up weekend I will investigate further - I think my next step is to try to find a bad ground - loose or broken wire - going to be tough - wires are buried in the door - run thru plastic in the door jam - and then under passenger side dash. You guys have any ideas what the best way to go about this is? Test light? Multi-meter - have one - not super familiar with using it for testing shorts - impedance - etc.
