will removing radio need to be reprogrammed
I don't think you'll have one of those programing problems with a 2005.
I removed the factory radio from my classic and installed an aftermarket stereo with no problems.
Of course if you could make sure you don't loose power to the thing then no problems!

The radio is VIN tied to your car, and would be locked if you installed it in a different car, it's a security feature. That's how it's supposed to work at least. But do a search online and you'll find plenty of owners who ended up with a locked radio after a dead battery, or battery change. For safety sake: How to Unlock a Chevy Radio | eHow.com
Unhook your battery gtound (-) cable and re-install, you will kow for sure. If your radio is a "THEFTLOCK" radio and not been locked, you will have no problem. JMHO.david g.
