Default How do I find Codes

I have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS and the engine light recently came on. How do I display the code and once I have the code where do I find what the code is?

If you dont have a code reader go to a local parts store or shop and they will scan it for free and tell you.

O , and welcome to the forum!

Thanks all! I have a 04 Deville and I can hit a combination of buttons on my dash and it will display the code so I wasn't sure if I could on the Monte or not.

I think you need a code reader for OBD2 Obd1 you can use a paper clip to get the codes. Like they said above Autozone will read it for free!
