Default hello, and help!

whats up guys, joined this forum because i find its the best place for help.
Working on getting my friends 88 camaro with a 350 in perfect running shape.

with that said...

my friend has a 88 camaro with a 350 from a k5 blazer in it. she has had it running for a couple weeks now and its been overheating. we are going to flush the coolant system and hope that helps. im pretty sure we should do the water pump and thermo. just to be safe but am unsure what temp to get. so...

what temp thermo should i get?
could it be overheating because its a truck engine now put in a car?
what else should i do?

being truck or car engine has no affect on overheating. you're on right track with replacing thermostat, having system flushed. if water pump doesn't show signs of leaking, then i'd leave it for now. try the 190 (or 195, whichever) degree thermostat. should work fine.
and welcome to our forums.

Welcome to the Chevrolet Forum!
190 will work fine, yes, but 160 or 170 would be fine too. You'll have a little more power with a cooler stat, but your gas mileage may suffer..

probably best to stick with factory spec, for computer. 180 may cause it to not sense right. of course, you could try it, drive rig for few days, see how it goes.
