I have a problem with a Chevy...
So I thought I would register on this fine forum and see if I could get an answer to my problem.
I live in Salem, Oregon and love it here. I bought my first Chevy in 1960 at the ripe old age of 13 for $5.00. Then a long time until my second one in 1965 when I bought a 47 chevy pickup for $10.00. When you are poor, you end up buying inexpensive vehicles!
I tore my first engine apart when I was 13 and put it back together and fired it up. Ran better than before! But, that is the way it is supposed to be, right? LOL Somehow, I have managed to play with engines all of my life and my main car/pickup was always a Chevy.
At the present time I drive a 2002 Chevy S-10 4x4 Extended Cab pickup with the 4.3L Vortec engine in it. I love it.
It IS the ONLY vehicle I have ever bought NEW! 54 years old before I could buy a new vehicle. Such is life. Now it has 33,000 on it and running wonderful. Yes, I know, only a few over 4,500 miles a year, but I only live 2 miles from work.
I owned a 1969 Impala SS in 1971. ALL 1969 Impala SS's had 427 cu in engines in them. Mine had the 390HP engine. They only made 2217 of them and I regret selling that one for sure. Red w/red, 427, Muncie 4speed, 3.31 posi rearend. I sure did stupid things when I was a kid.
In 1973 I bought a 1963 Split-window without the Injection or distributor on the engine for $600.00. OH MY... IF I would have kept that. That is one of the most sought after Corvettes ever made. Dumb me.
So, here I am, making your acquaintance so I can try to figure out my problems!
Hopefully Santa brought everyone their most wanted present and everyone had a great Christmas.
Off to the forums to ask my question!

Welcome Mr. Chevy....he seems to have brought us you and that's outstanding. My screw-up was selling my 1947 Chevy Fleetline Sportmaster. Regrets are many if you just look at the downside. I'm sure there's been lots of good things for you too. Damn, ain't life grand! Enjoy the forum and it's good of you to drop in.
Thanks guys! I left from here and looked around the forums and seen the first thing I should do is check the door switch for my problem. So, I haven't been able to leave a question yet for someone who knows the answer to answer me. I think I will go wander around the New Member thread I am in and see what some of the other new members do.
Note: The MrChevy has no space or period in it, it is one of my websites. There are thousands of All photos to look at, not of cars though. Sunsets, waterfalls, things like that. Even 80 some of my ex-wife. I'm 62 and I must say, she looks MUCH younger than me. No nudes or anything, just photos of Ani that I took while we were married for 6 years.
I think in 18 photos down in the first column of Ani's photos you can see the little shed I built to store the rototiller in. I made it a little bigger so I could store the shovels and rakes in it too. Barely room for them, full of other stuff too. Even got the bike and the Blazer in there.
Still room in the back yard for another little shed.
Ani Photos

This link will take you to see the toys I have for working on motors (engines). Do you recognize any of it? What it does? I'm sure some of you do.
The Shop, full of some of my toys
--- Probably just start with Photo 1 and work through them.
My health has been screwed up for a year or so and I haven't been able to be down there playing with my toys.
Only ONE car in the world...Chevy's!, all the rest are just transportation.

Thanks George!
Sorry, but we won't be moving, THIS IS GOD'S COUNTRY OUT HERE IN OREGON!! Not too hot, not too cold. Four seasons by the calendar. The other way, just two seasons. One lasts about 8 months when it rains and then 4 months when we have beautiful weather with sunsets like this:

30 years ago in Salem, there WERE 14 automotive machine shops. Today there are TWO. Glen is in South Salem and I am in North Salem. I try to do things right, that is why I am one of the two still left.
Yes, I like my shop too! Working on it all the time. The guys have been washing the equipment down and when done we will take photos and post them on our www.KensDMS.com site. I would like to post prices, but haven't figured out how to do that yet that wouldn't take a LOT of time to keep it updated. I've been messing with QuickBooks but think I am going to have to Export to Excel everytime I update.
Oh, dang. I have to go to the office and do the invoices I haven't gotten done yet before sleep. ALWAYS something.
We don't have a balancer or crank grinder yet. We may get a balancer if I can scrape up some money for one. Everything costs so much. The boring bar was $20,000, the hone was $17,000, the pressure checker was over $7,000, WOW, was THAT a good investment! We had an IronTite that cost $1,700 and was a POS. We wouldn't even use it. But that was what was available in '83 when I bought some more equipment. I think I bought the AXE pressure checker in '99.
I read machine shop (any time I say machine shop I mean AUTOMOTIVE machine shop) trade magazines and I would sure like to be like the shops they profile in the mags, buying new equipment every 4-5 years. They MUST be in a town that has money. Salem is the State Capital, and just doesn't seem to be any for us.
