I have a 1999 Chevrolet S-10 LE 4.3L V6 with 175,000 miles. Recently the second gear in my transmission went out and the check engine light came on. I took it in and got code P0753, indicating the 1-2 Shift Solenoid. I have replaced both solenoids and the problem still persists. I have read about issues with the ignition switch on forums, but I don't think this is the issue since only the 2nd gear is out. All other gears work, but vehicle often skips 2nd gear and goes to 1st when downshifting.

I am trying to see if anything else can be an issue before I drop the transmission and take it in for rebuild.
