my 91 s10 blazer won't start. it tries to turn over for a few seconds then dies out with a grinding noise. could be the starter gear? i dont' know what else it could be to make it just die out like that. plz help.

 

Sounds like a bad starter/bendix gear or a bad ring gear.

 

replace the starter it has a dead spot so to speak, most starters just stop working, some will slowly stop, it will turn hard for a bit then just stop and make an annoying kinda grinding sound like it wnats to turn but just cant

 

I had this problem in my 88 s10 blazer 4x4. I had to get a new starter and my ring gear was stripped.
