You don't. It's R134a if I remember right...

A less toxic replacement for freon.

You should have two hookups on the compressor. You need to add refrigerant slowly to the bigger of the two lines. That the one with the least pressure. Are you using can refrigerant or true R134a with a set of gauges?

"Freon" is DuPont's brand/trade name for any CFC and HFC refrigerants they produce... its a common misconception that it refers to R12 or R22 specifically. R134A is Freon too if you buy it from DuPont.
R12 is a CFC refrigerant that was outlawed by the EPA in favor of a R134a, an HFC refrigerant that is much less harmful to the atmosphere.
Toxicity of CFC and HFC refrigerant is uniform. The same all the way around. Its not toxic, but it it much heavier than any component of the air you breathe so it reduces the amount of breathable oxygen around you when it is released. If you inhale enough of it, it could take several hours to several days to get it out of your lungs.
