Thanks, I will try the lines first (and the fried pads). The steering is unaffected.

Lines are the metal "pipes" they are not causing your problem. You need hoses.

I replaced both front brake hoses, then calipers & pads. Seemed to fix the problem or the fronts binding. But now problem is in the rear, both sides. E brake is not binding. Is it possible that the rear hoses and calipers need to be replaced too or is there something at the master cylender/ ABS leven that is the problem?

Is it possible that your rear brakes are out of adjustment?

The rear brakes on my 90's vehicles are adjusted by use of the emergency brakes.

Do you have drums or rear disc brakes?
