Default Chassis Lubrication

I bought a tube of grease today -- the red kind that is supposed to be good for "high temperature" use. It was the most expensive, at about $3.50 for a tube.

I plan to lube the chassis of my 2004 Silverado sometime next weekend. Is this "red" grease good enough? I think red is synthetic grease, right?

How many fittings on there (driveshaft and suspension, etc.) if the truck is 2wd with the 5.3L V8 engine? BTW, it has an automatic transmission.

THANX!!!!

The high temp rating is best suited for wheel bearings.. the chassis is not as likely to get hot like the wheel bearings would, however the grease should work thou you shouldn't base price as equaling better.

Your owners manual should provide a listing of suitable lubricants for your vehicle, the tube of grease should also list its recommend uses.
