ck3500 frontend shake
2000 c3500 1 ton dually has searve frontend shake when applying brakes. Pads are new and the problem doesn't happen every time brakes are applied. some times the shake is there on applying the brakes sometime it does not shake at all and the truck stops good and stright. When it shakes I can not detect any pull to either side and there is no pedal paulse at all. Did not have this problem after new pads were installed until about 200 miles on the new pads. Have check and the pads are the correct ones for the truck. I have changed the front tires without any help to this problem. If the rotors were warpped would it not happen every time the brakes were applied? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

How fast you are going and how hard you apply the brakes may affect it.
I would guess that you are in need of new rotors.
If you have a Les Schwab they can do a free examination and let you know.

since its on and off..it could be balljoints..best way to check is jack up the front end and grab the tire at 12 and 6 oclock and see if was any play.. it'll take a little force

Thanks guys, I just replaced the pads again and the problem is 85% gone. The front end has just also been checked out by one of the best front-end shops in the valley and they say No problems with the front-end.
I think I will just drive it now as the shake is much less intense and far less frequent as it was with the other pads. It also does not seem to be pedal pressure or speed related. The problem is totaly unpredictable as to when it will happen.

My old car did this and I tried a few things. The new pads will fix the problem until they're broken in again then it will come back.
Rotors- Might need resurfacing. It also could be a bad bearing causing excessive runout.
Alignment- Alignment might be slightly off causing this also...

Thanks for the replys. The shimmy is gone for now with the new pads. I really don't think the rotors are to blame as I had no problem until I changed the pads the first time. The shake also was not all the time, maybe 5 out of 10 brake applacations. If it comes back then I will continue with finding the cause. Thanks again for all the help.
