I removed it from my S-10 when I owned it based upon advice from a long time friend/mechanic...and did it again with my current truck.
Both vehicles said to use it...HOWEVER...I've never known ONE person...not ONE single person that said to keep dexcool in their cooling system.
There's even a class action law suit against the stuff:

I never had a system where I didn't have to change the radiator fluid every two years, till now. It's been since 9/04, when I got the truck new, with nary a problem with the coolant.(Dexcool) Due to it's color changing, and it's usage period expiring, I will be flushing and changing it this summer.
Maybe I'm just one of the lucky ones. I'm usually the first to complain loud and long about product deficiencies. As of 9/09, the original Dexcool in my system will have been working trouble-free for five years.

I had Dexicool in my 97 Tahoe and in 12 years of ownership only changed the coolant 2x and never had issue, thou at some point while having it serviced at a screw-u-lube place they added the green to the pink and I got cottage cheese that I had to flush out.
