My 1994 1500 with automatic transmission is giving me problems. It start's out in first but won't shift out until I let up on the gas then it will shift I think into third, I checked the fluid and it's full but a little dirty I don't think the fluid has been changed in a while I don't think fluid is the problem could this be an internal problem?

 

I don't have an answer for you but I just bought one and it's doing the same exact thing.

 

Trans should be a 4L60E, If its shifting from 1st to 3rd, then your band is no good. Cant do much on the outside except pull out the servo piston to check the rings, pretty common for the band to break though. Gary(i have a trans shop in new york)

 

I have a 94 Z71 with a 5 7 I just installed a new/ used 4l60e that I I bought from my buddy out of a running truck. the truck was running and driving when he pulled the transmission and sold it to me. when I installed it into my vehicle all it does is High Rev and no gear shift what can it be
