Default 1998 Chevy 1500 outside handle

I got a 98 chev 1500 that I need to replace the outside door handle on due to someone trying to break in. I was wondering if I got to take the insides of the door out or if I could sneak by with everything in place still. It's the drivers side that I need to do
Thanks

Sorry, you need to remove the inner door panel. It is not as bad as you think.

I agree, its not that bad, you have to access two nuts... if you do damage some of the panel retainers they are readily available at most auto parts stores for a few bucks... I had to replace the handle on my 97 Tahoe for the same reason

Thanks, would any of you happen to no the best way to do it? Should I take my window out or try and support it? If what should I use? I am going to have to do this outside and it's suppose to reach -15

No need to remove the window. Just have it all the way up and that should give you access.

There are two ten millimeter bolts .
One on the edge of the door and one inside the door.

It can be done from the outside.

Just keep your wits about you, twist it just right and don't drop linkages and keepers down inside the door......that's when ya gotta dis-embowl 'er.
