Default 1998 K1500 will not start

I have a 98 K1500 and it currently will not start. You roll the key forward and all you hear is a click from the starter. So I changed the starter and still all you hear is a click that happens once. So I decided to jump solenoid.. when I did the truck tried to crank..but all of a sudden the truck died. I currently have no power to my gauges and my truck will not click.. my lights still work but the gauges will not move and when you roll the key forward nothing happens. So have I blow a fuse somewhere trying to jump the solenoid?

the one from the batt to the block and the one from the firewall to the engine block

Alright currently I have a brand new battery I got today and still the truck does not turn over. All the other lights in the truck come on other than the dash.. nothing happens when the key is rolled forward its as if you never rolled it over in the first place. Does this sound like the ignition switch?

ok, sounds like the solenoid...even with a brand new starter, if your battery is weak or you have bad cables it can pop the solenoid they are cheap and better than replacing the whole starter again, but first check the fuses to make absolutely sure

You definitely have a bad starter solenoid, I know the "click click click" sound from experience, it is a dead giveaway.
I think they are pretty inexpensive, just go buy 1. You may need to jump start the truck if the battery is dead.

For anybody that has not had a starter solenoid go out on them, it is a different type of
Clicking sound than a clicking sound that you would hear from say - a dead battery.
It is a distinct "click", similar to the click sound you may hear from the contactor
In your house thermostat when you switch on/off your heater or air conditioner.
