Default 2 problems

I just bought a 2006 Silverado 1500 Z71 Crew Cab. I have found these 2 problems.

1. When I put on the air (a/c or heat) i get a "whistling" sound. Kinda sounds like a tea pot thats boiling. When i open a door or crack a window the sound goes away. I think it might be a bad seal.

2. When I start up the truck, i get this really faint "winding" sound, and does it periodically. I think it might have something to do with the speedo or the tach.

I am gonna bring it to the shop soon, so i was just wondering if anyone else could give me a few more ideas.

Other than that the truck is friggen awsome!

- Thanks

I got 17000 miles on it. yeah i think its cause my cab isnt sealed completely and with all the air blowing in, it makes that sound. . . it comes from the front passenger side. . . maybe the windshield isnt sealed well.

in my truck i will get that some times too. i would check the weather stripping in the door jam. thats were mine was coming from cause ther was a hole in the weather stripping so air was coming through. but otherwise i really don't know since yours is 16 years older then mine. andabout that winding sound?? does it sometimeswine then stop or is it always winding but you don't hear it???

Ok great ill check all the weather stripping. if not i bet its got something to do with the vents.

The winding sound. It happens when i start up my truck and the gauges are "turning on" and from then its just periodically maybe a couple times a minute. its not loud at all thats why i missed it when i test drove it.

thanks. . .
