Default 2004 1500 A/C Problems

I have a 2004 Chevy Ext Cab 1500, my A/C will randomly shut off while driving. I will turn off the truck for an hour or so and then the A/C will run fine. I have used gauges to check the fre-on and everything checks out ok. This doesnt happen everyday but i have noticed it on long drives.

Any feedback would be great.

Do a search in the forum. Its a common problem with Chevy trucks. I had the same problem with my truck except it would blow cold on pass side and hot on drivers. Then it one day the problem went away. It has something to do with dampeners in the dash getting stuck half open or half closed. Hope this helps a little.

I had a similar problem in a 2001 Dodge truck, turned out to be the compressor clutch.
