Default 2009 1500 trailer hitch?????

Just bought an '09 1500 4x4 crew cab with "tow/haul package". Has button on shifter, temp gauge for tranny, wiring going to bumper for plug. Only problem is plug cover seems to be a dummy, and NO HITCH!!!(receiver) What gives?

What do you mean no hitch, do you mean there is no reciever to put a hitch in. The rciever is a square hole that a two inch square metal piece slides into and fastens with a large pin. The actual ball is on the square metal piece.

then take it back to the dealership and tell them to put the receiver on? you bought the tow package with it so it should have come with one from the start.

I see Chevy is still up to the same tricks. 'Bout all that tow package means is that the wiring is in place, but not connected.

It is a dummy plug, it pops out and the real one pushes in. Also, did the truck come with a tranny cooler on it? That is part of the tow haul package if I remember right. Purchased my separate for my truck, so not exactly sure.

I assume it has the cooler since the dash has a tranny temp gauge. As far as the plug, is there any under the hood wiring or am I all set once I swap the dummy cover?

All you have to do is swap the cover. Do you plan to use a trailer brake? If so, there are two wire under the hood that have to be connected to the battery to supply power to the wires under the dash. Not sure on the 09's but my 07 wt had the trans temp in the dic, but did not come with a tranny cooler.
