Default Any tips for the 2002 Chevy 8.1?

i just got this truck with the 8.1/Allison. it has 108,000 miles on it now and it looks like it has never had plugs and wires. what plugs, wires, and anything else should i go with. the parts store told me that the 8.1 runs better with a 180 thermostat and one size colder plug. anyone heard of that? also what brand plug should i run. i have no problem running stock but if there is something that is better i would like to know. i never had anything this new so any tips would be great.

thanks, eric

holly crap! just priced the plug wires. they are only about 4 inches long and they want $99 for them. not that i can't afford them but my Oldsmobiles have them several feet long and are only $50 for a good quality set. that was at car quest. they said that they were an OE set and that was the only set available for this engine.

try rockauto dot com. I just looked and for a 2002 8.1L the prices for a plug wire set range from $23 for a low line set to about $50 for a premium set to $60 for acdelcos. Rockauto ftw!
