I normally start with upgrading the tires and wheels.

if were talkijng performance it depends how much you wana spend and how much work you wana do
simple things are bolt ons
such as
1. new intake tube with high flow filter
2. free flowing muffler
3.custom tune
all about 700-1000$total depending on what you get sometimes maybe not even that much
other bolt ons like headers are awsome but require a little more work than most will do

I am looking for bolt on performance, better fuel mileage etc.
I was thinking cold air kit with filter, performance exhaust and maybe headers. But what else will wake this motor up.

Thanks again

a good tune is a good place to start check out wheatley and black bear proformance i havent heard anything but happy reviews from either of these places. and from what i have read on here is not to do a complete Cold air intake just put a good filter in and get like an airaid tube these trucks already have a great intake system just needs a high flow tube and filter

ok here i go again your truck has a true cold air box on it the pronlem is the intake tube is restrictive and has baffles to keep the noise down so by replacing the tube you gett better flow and sound the only thing you will get out of a air intake is throttle response and like.1 or .2 more mpg also sounds alot better i did my mod for 87$60 for the tube 27 for the high flow filter i can do a write up on it if you want

also i just thought about it u can port and polish your throttle body for beter response

as far as bolt ons
free flowing exhaust
air intake tube with filter
maybe some headers
and tuned all together with a custom tune as stated about it will feel like a new truck way more power and people with lifted vehicals they see and increase in as much as 2mpg imagin stock tires could be a lot more the muffler and headers you can find on autoanything.com cheap and awsome parts also free shipping and promo codes for discounts

EDIT: now that i tgink about it if you have 3.42 gears then uping your gears to 3.73 or 4.10 will change the truck drasticly however its expensive and depending on what size you go with the worse the mpg is

Exclamation 08 Silverado with a 4.8 best upgrade for mileage

I'm looking at an 08 Silverado 1500 Extended cab with 174K on the clock not new but no where near my 2000 Jimmy with 374K on the clock who ain't long for this world. So I know the 4.8 isn't exactly a power house with good pulling power for those rare occasions I pull a trailer. My questions are whats the easiest way to improve the mileage and are there anythings I should look for?
