Default Brakes

Just bought my 04. Everything is great on the truck so far.Traded in my 99 Dodge Ram for her. Just wondering if the rest of you guys have good brakes. Dont get me wrong they stop me fine and pads look new. Just seems you have to cram em to stop fast. For a truck with 4 wheel disc brakes looks like they would bout throw you thru the window. Did a search and noticed some braggin bout stoppin as good as the Nissan Titans. Noticed GM had a recall on some ofthe hydro boost systems. Did a VIN check at my local dealer but they claim no open recalls on the truck. They did the tailgate cable. Just lookin for some opinions from others bout how good theirs are.

I have a new 2007 Silverado, and I find the brakes far "softer" than I am used to. I drove a 2004 civic before this, and it had solid, firm brakes. It has been a big ajustment for me as well. Maybe that is just the way chev makes them?

Update on the brakes.Jerked off one of the front tires and caliper. Some bunny had put the cheapos pads on and they have already crystalized pretty bad. Put a good quality set on and she stops like a dream.

Did that help your pedal feel? I have semi metalic on mine. I put them on the same month I bought it. But after a year or a year and a half the pedal got really soft.

Pedal feel was bout the same. Braking response was improved 80%.Put OE ceramics on. Bit more costly but you get what you pay for.

the front brake work great compared to the back.I would keep a good eye on the rear pad, these pads are allot smaller than the front.the slides are prone to sieze up they will in turn drag the inside pad. dont let it screw your rotor the back rotors are $$$ disc brakes on the rear were a mistake .2005gm went back to rear drums

Replaced the rear as well. I clean the slides with a rotarywire brush, paint and thengrease them at every pad exchange. Hope this works for the rears on this truck. Maybe why she was sittin on the lot??Have to make the best of it or trade, So far all is well.
