Default Can someone help me please? Silverado 1500 issue

My truck is a 2005 Silverado 1500 4.3. It went through a flash flood 1 month ago. Water was up to the hood. All fluids were changed, dropped gas tank, everything is dried out. When i connect the battery all the lights come on and no key is in the ignition.

Was getting a pass lock security light on the dash but no codes come up. Tried the passlock repeat but did not work Checked all fuses and they seem fine, but the engine turns over and acts like it wants to start but does not. Any suggestions? It partly acts as though it is not getting fuel but it is. When the engine almost starts it kinda sounds like a backfire noise.
Please I am dumbfounded but cannot afford a tech.

Any suggestions would be awesome

what did you use to read the dtc?

you need a full function scan tool to read theft codes as they are stored in the bcm....a code reader only reads powertrain dtc

Yes I believe it was a dtc as it only gave me a No Link the first time and then 0 codes. What tool are you speaking of? Is it only available with a diagnostic or tech
I truly do appreciate your response and help.
Thanks
Debra

you need a scan tool that can read body codes. the factory gm tech 2 scan tool will read them. google scan tool that reads gm body codes for other brands of scan tools.

ok we used the Actron OBD 11 handheld scanner and it gave us a NO LINK. It only has an up / down button so we are not sure how to use it. I looked it up and got instructions but no link. Is this the same as the scanner you were talking about. I seen a Body Chassis scanner and it gave me an OBD 2 updated scanner.

I don't feel like I am getting anywhere. Sorry if I ask so many questions
Thanks,

that scan tool will not access body codes.
if the theft light is coming on solid after cranking, you have a theft issue.

if its not, check these things which are required for the engine to start.

1 spark- use a proper spark tester
2 fuel pressure- you wlll need a fuel pressure gauge
3 injector pulse - you will need a noid light
4 compression check- you will need a compression tester.
5. cam and crank position signals- use your actron scan tool to view live data for camshaft and crankshaft position signals.

if the cam and crank signals are not present; no spark & injector pulse will be present. when you have a theft deterrent problem spark and injector pulse will be inhibited by the pcm.

Yes the left light comes on when trying to crank. All lights come on. If the key is left on for 10 min they will finally go out. Is there a way to bypass or disable the passlock as I am assuming that's what it is? Or am I on the wrong direction?

if you have a theft deterrent problem; you must repair the problem. the first step is to retrieve the theft code.

since you have attempted a theft deterrent learn, you may have caused other dtc to set in the theft deterrent system. I would record the codes set, clear all dtc out of the pcm and bcm and attempt to start the truck. when it doesn't start, report the dtc that sets.

if no theft codes are set...I posted the next steps.

unfortunately, there is no way to isolate this problem this without equipment. flooded vehicle diagnosis can lead anywhere.
