Front hub bearings have regular service intervals. If the proper service intervals have been done at the proscribed mileage then you have another service issue that is causing the bearing to fail. If the services were not done then no foul on the truck.
My 96 has 260k and still has the original front bearings due to a regular preventive maintainance schedule,,,just some thoughts.

an 04 bearing is sealed from the factory and is non-servicable.

was the replacement bearing AC/delco or OEM? Delco is no longer OEM for GM and they are junk. From the cost you quoted; sounds like a cheaper delco bearing.

My bad...Both my early models have serviceable front bearings. Not up on the later model trucks.

Like Tech2 said you deffinately want OEM bearings and any front end component really or youll just keep replacing them... The bearing is VERY easy to change though takes about 20 minutes. Just pop off the wheel and brakes, take off the axle nut, and its held in by 3 bolts on the back. You can also find dealer OEM parts about half price on Ebay...

just talked to my parts guy...i was wrong...a/c is still gm oem but they have different lines. The bearing issues i've had were using the lower quality line.

I just replaced frt hubs on 02 silverado, used timken hubs, abs sensor was bad in one, had to use the sensor from the old hub, local guy wanted 270 for the timken hub and 130 to install, i got it on amazon for 115.,but was on my own when the abs started activating on dry roads.
